Synopsis:

‘Humbug!’ follows the further adventures of Ebeneezer Scrooge and his merry band of adventurers as they explore Victorian England in search of evil in all its forms. Having completed his gauntlet of visits by the spirits in “A Christmas Carol” by Charles Dickens, Ebeneezer is once again visited by Jacob Marley who informs him that although he has changed, he can’t make up for a lifetime of greed and malevolence in only one night. Charged with seeking out and combating villainy, Scrooge is joined by Bob Cratchit and his eldest son Peter. As their story begins, Scrooge has been active as London’s homegrown protector for seven years, but even though he’s spent nearly a decade in the service of good, his true adventures are only just beginning. . .

Our Heroes:

 Ebeneezer Scrooge

The hero of our tale, Ebeneezer spent a lifetime being cruel and vile to those around him. Having been visited by three spirits on the Eve of Christmas, Scrooge is shown the error of his ways and turns his life around, becoming a kind and generous soul. After this well known tale, Ebeneezer is charged by the ghost of his long-dead business partner Jacob Marley to take up a noble quest to seek out and rid the world of evil in all its forms. Scrooge has been fighting the good fight for seven years, joined by his long time friend Bob Cratchit and Bob’s son Peter who has become the chief engineer of Scrooge’s steam engine “The Iron Justice”. Battling Spring-Heeled Jack, Scrooge lost his left hand to the vile creature but has had it replaced by a mechanical replica with the aide of Jacob Marley’s otherworldly expertise.

Bob Cratchit

Bob Cratchit was Ebeneezer Scrooge’s loyal servant until Scrooge’s profound change turned him into a friend as well. Not wanting to leave the side of his benefactor, Bob joined Scrooge on his quest as soon as he found out about it.  Alongside his former employer and friend, he stopped many threats all across merry old England. That was until he was crushed by a building saving a child’s life from the villainous Spring-Heeled Jack. Bob escaped death with the help of Ebeneezer and the ghost of Jacob Marley as they placed his brain in a steam-powered automaton.  Trying to live his life as an abnormality, Bob allowed his wife to claim him deceased so that she may move on with her life and continues to remain at the side of his friend and companion Ebeneezer.

Peter Cratchit

The son of Bob and Emily Cratchit, Peter was sent to engineering school by Ebeneezer and graduated with flying colors. Once he was old enough he chose to join his father and Ebeneezer on their quest across Europe. The chief engineer of Scrooge’s steam engine “The Iron Justice”, Peter can be headstrong but is truly kind at heart. He feels strongly against injustice and is fiercely protective of his family.

Jacob Marley

Scrooge’s former business partner and the closest thing he had to a friend before he changed his ways. Jacob passed away several years ago and is continuing to earn his own redemption by assisting Scrooge in battling the forces of evil. Jacob is an emissary for the mysterious forces that exist beyond this life, and his paranormal knowledge has helped Scrooge to build the replacement body of Bob Cratchit and the arsenal of weapons they use in their quest.
